Park Avenue Class Decriptions

Mom and Tot
Park Avenue’s Parent-Tot classes are a wonderful introduction to gymnastics for children ages 15-36 months and a participating parent. These 45 minute classes explore and develop your child’s movement, coordination, gross motor skills and self-esteem all while enriching your parent-child bond. Children and parents play along with our enthusiastic preschool instructors as they sing, dance, race, tumble and jump through our specialized parent/tot area of the gym.

Preschool 2 ½
Our Preschool 2 ½ class is 45 minutes of fun, geared towards transitioning your child from the parent/tot program to an independent class. While participating without a parent, your child will learn concepts such as taking turns and socializing with other students all while continuing to develop coordination, flexibility, strength and body positions in a fun and playful environment. *Prior instructor approval required*

Preschool Beginner
Our Preschool Beginner program is a 55 minute class geared towards helping your child develop a solid gymnastics foundation and strong self-esteem. Your preschooler will develop flexibility, coordination, strength and balance in a group environment while forming new friendships and having fun. Skills your child will work on include: forward rolls, hanging, climbing, balancing on the beam, jumping on the trampoline and safe landing techniques.

Preschool Intermediate
Preschool Intermediate is a 55-minute, accelerated preschool program for children who show exceptional strength, coordination and listening skills in the Preschool Beginner program. Preschool Intermediate students will expand on the skills from Preschool Beginner and progress toward such skills as backward rolls, hand stands, bridges and forward rolls on the balance beam.

Girls Beginner
Girls Beginner is a 55 minute, introductory recreational gymnastics class for girls ages 5-12. In Girls Beginner, your child will have fun while learning and building upon basic gymnastics skills, flexibility, strength, coordination and balance. The self-esteem, confidence and friendships she will discover in this class will benefit her developing gymnastics foundation as well as her outside social activities.

Girls Intermediate I
Girls Intermediate I is an 85 minute class for 5-12 year old gymnasts who have successfully completed all of the skills outlined in the Beginner curriculum. Gymnasts in Intermediate I will continue to develop more advanced skills, build on a strong foundation of strength, balance and coordination and have fun while advancing through the Park Avenue Gymnastics program.

Girls Intermediate II
Girls Intermediate II is for gymnasts who successfully complete all the skills outlined in the Beginner and Intermediate I curriculums. In this 85 minute class for girls ages 5-12, Intermediate II gymnasts continue to expand on not only their range of skills, but also their body form, strength and flexibility. Intermediate II gymnasts build motivation and dedication to work towards reaching the Advanced level.

Girls Advanced
Girls Advanced, a 115 minute class for girls ages 5-12, is the pinnacle of the Girls Recreational Gymnastics program. Advanced gymnasts have successfully completed the skills outlined in all prior levels and will continue to progress in their gymnastics skill set. The goal of the Girls Advanced class is to continue to learn and perfect more advanced gymnastics skills and eventually earn an invitation to join Park Avenue’s highly successful and nationally recognized competitive Girls Team program.

Boys Beginner
Boys Beginner is a 55-minute, introductory recreational gymnastics class for boys ages 5-12. In Boys Beginner, your child will learn and build upon basic gymnastics skills, flexibility, strength, coordination and balance. Beginner boys will become familiar with men’s gymnastics equipment including floor, high bar, parallel bars, rings, vault and pommel horse. Boys gymnastics is a great way for your child to channel his energy in a positive and healthy way to achieve exercise and increase confidence both inside and outside of the gym.

Boys Intermediate
Boys Intermediate is an 85 minute class for boys ages 5-12 who have successfully completed all of the skills outlined in the Boys Beginner program. Intermediate boys will continue to focus on building strength, motivation and discipline in the sport and developing the skills required to move up to the Boys Pre-Team.

Boys Advanced (Pre-Team)
Boys Advanced, also known as Boys Pre-Team, is a program designed for boys preparing to enter the world of competitive gymnastics. In this program, advanced gymnasts train with the Park Avenue Boys Team Coach for 3 hours, 3 days per week to learn and perfect gymnastics routines for each event and prepare for the competitive season the following year.

Co-Ed Tumbling
Co-Ed Tumbling is a 55 minute class for gymnasts 5-16 years of age which focuses solely on tumbling and somersaulting skills. In this program, tumblers will begin a foundation on flexibility, conditioning and core strength, and develop skills such as somersaults, cartwheels, handstands and bridge kick-overs. Tumblers will gain experience on the floor exercise, Trampoline and Tumbl-Trak. Co-Ed Tumbling is an ideal class for cheerleaders and dancers, as it focuses solely on tumbling skills and does not include curriculum on the other gymnastics events such as bars, beam and vault.

Co-Ed Trampoline & Double-Mini Trampoline
The Co-Ed Trampoline and Double-Mini Trampoline program is a 55 minute class for gymnasts ages 5-16 based on developing skills in the sport of Trampoline. In this class, gymnasts will work on basic bouncing, air awareness, body position and safe landing techniques on the trampoline, double-mini and Tumbl-Trak. Gymnasts will work towards advancing their skill set to include more advanced somersaults and twists, and eventually working towards joining our nationally qualified athletes on Park Avenue’s successful Trampoline and Tumbling Competitive Team.
